What themes from this speech resonate with our class? the theme that resonate with our class was that president obama said that america needs more engineers because he said that we are getting left behind and other place are advancing faster than we are like india and china and honestly in my opinion i agree because although he also said that we need more people studying science and math . engineering involves math and many things that could help us a lot to catch up with the advances in this new era.

What technology sector did the president compare to the space program of the 60's? What is the comparison? president obama compare it with the space race and also with the studies that our nation is going through and the comparison was the alternative energy and ways of improving things to make them better and also better for our economy.

What is the name of the new program that will replace No Child Left Behind? How do the programs compare? the program that obama is replacing it with will be race to the top and he is hoping it will be better and this program is kind of his new way and trying to stay different and distance him self from bush version of the law.this program is to improve learning and to keep our students on top with other places that are advancing faster than the u.s and it is also to increase the learning standard.

Last semester we talked about the trapped coal miners in Chile. Why did the president conclude his speech with an example relating to that? well i think he concluded with this talk to make people be positive and to show americans what he is expecting and that we can make a strong america.

What's interesting about the President's chief speechwriter? What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?well i think his job is very interesting because he gets to work for the president and he gets to be around the action that takes place in the u.s and although i could not take his job because honestly i think it could be really hard to have.in ten years from now i hope to be working in the medical field helping people and also keeping my life in balance.i also hope that in ten years i will be traveling and being able to afford a car that will save a lot of gas or that wont use any gas because by the rate that we are going gas is going to cost more than a month rent to refill the car every time it runs out of gas.

Has this speech inspired you and if so how?yes it has because it made me feel like we are a strong community that can be on the top numbers of improvement and because it makes me want to be some body in life maybe not super rich but living a okey life.

...fixing survival at sea

the activity was really interesting because i had never really though about it that way.it was interesting to see how i rank things and how the life guard rated them.in my personal perspective i rated water and chocolates my top picks because to me water is really important and i dont think i could survive without out it for a long time and because why do we need a mad or radio when we will be dien faster than we get rescue and water will help think better and focusing in getting rescue and without water you could not be able to focuse in nothing.i will also choose chocolate because it is a source of food and it will help me feat and also healthy and without food we could die too.my bottom choices could be a radio and a rum because if the radio wont help me comunicate with no body than their is no need of having it in my top picks and because it will add more weight and i could not choose the rum because i dont wanna be drinking something that will make me feel worse and because it will not help me keep focuse and it specialy wont help me in getting rescue.
yes, their were items that i had a hard time ranking like the shaving mirror and the seat cuisen because i didnt realy know what good they could be until i found out that the shaving mirror is very important for getting rescue.

Team Prioritization: my team agree that water is really needed and that it is top number 1 and that without it we couldnt survive.my group rank similarly to the rum like at the bottom of the ist and that couldnt really be needed .my group rank the shaving mirror way different than me and i honestly didnt get it until i realise it is needed for surviving. our group work together by talking to each other and asking how we rank things and what did they think out them. and we put our self in the position like if we were at sea. my team was organize and we knew that in our top pick was water but one of our team mates choice the shaving mirrior has his top pick and he was right although we told him he was wrong .but this shows us that sometimes the last expected thing is more important.

Expert Prioritization: my choices were some what similar in the ranking but their were things that surpprise me like the fact that the shaving mirror is more important than water and honestly that catch me by surprise a lot because to me water is the most important thing in i could had being lost at sea.i put more weight on food and water because in my opinion water and food keep you alive and although getting rescue could be great but why do you wanna get resque when you could be death by the time they rescue you.

1. What are trends? Why is it important to identify them prior to graphic design? in  my point of view trends is style, whats going on and is hot and every other company wants to copy it or improve it to make some money. trends can be found in clothing store,furniture stores, cars, and most of all technology. their is a new phone every week thats is better and faster than the phone of the past week. trends are very important for bussiness because they gotta keep track with what is going on in the world to keep their company a live because a \month with out any new trends for a campnay could make them lose money because other companies are comming out with new trends. is important to identify them before for that they are able to created a graphic that keeps up with the demands of the people and with other designs of companies.a good graphic is made when all the trends are identify and improve in the graphic.

2. How does human nature play a role in how a product is marketed to a specific demographic group? well human nature is very important because they decide what they like and what they dont. they help decide if a product is hot and if other people will want to buy it and they could make the product go out of stock meaning sold out because of a lot of demand or on sale because nobody really wants to buy it and the stores dont want to lose any more money so a dollar is better than nothing.

3. How is a potential audience identified? a audience  is identify by the design of the graphic and what appeals to them. a cat on the graphic can appeal to cat lovers and that goes with every product or apps.

4. What must you discover about the target audience prior to graphic design? well they must discover what the audience likes and what they like and most of all what is hot meaning the new toy in the block. by knowing what is the target of the audience than you could make a graphic design that will get A plus and that every one will love of a F MANING THE GRAPHIC SUCK AND THEY dont like it and wont apend money buying it or selling it.

1)my advertisement come from the electronic design magazine but the brand of the audio is cirrus logic
2)is advertising a battery that will be long lasting, by installing a application to audio that will help the battery last longer and make the battery of the smarthphone a real smart investement.this application also makes the phone achieve superior sound quality.
-leticia vargas and lilia.=yes the advertisement is consise because it keeps the mood on and it shows a good picture of their new product and this will make the public be interested on it because come on their is a phone recording wat looks to be a club or a party and honestly to record something in our phones it ends up taking most of the energy away of the battery. but the this advertisement says a battery that will last longer. the message is deliever greatly because it keeps the audience interested and it shows a phone recording and on top it says a lasting battery life. the only bad thing about this advertise is that the words are a bit to small in the bottom and no one wants to read a paragraph so they should had kept that information short and interesting because they got to realise that time is valuable and people dont want to be wasting it on ready a long paragraph with tiny words. in our opinion the product is great and a lot of people will want to download that app to their phone to make it last long i know that we will. the picture meets the requirements for a interesting advertisement by providing information and a web site in the bottom. but they definely need to keep their information short because is kind of boring to read to much and it ends up making the reader lose interest.

1)this stairs show the elements of designs because it is made up of forms/shapes like the stair is made up of squares and diagonal. this stairs have rythm because they match but the shape of the stairs make it very artistic.

2)the second picture also represents design unity because all the shapes are a like and it makes the window look interesting and out of the ordinary. the unity makes the texture of the window look some what smooth and the shapes are squares and altough it doesnt have much color it doesnt look like it needs it.

3)the third picture shows color, shape/form, and texture.this elements make the shape of the wall look like a heart and heart covers the top and bottom of the wall. the brown color made the heart a bit more interesting and making it brown makes it different from most hearts that are red or pink. the brinks make the heart have balance because has it goes up it gets bigger and has you go down it becomes small.it also shows a rocky texture

this is the brochure for our candy machine i work with lilia.

candy machine

1) the challenge was to make a candy machine and to show 4 new types of shape for the candies and a machine that will last and that will be usefull.but in my opinion we made the machine cute and different from other types of candy machines.i work in this project with lilia vargas.

2) Why did you choose the design brief that you chose to work on?i choose this design because i think it is really fun and because i like teddy bears.but i think that the candy machine is a great design because it makes me think about a candy machine that i could use or even buy candy off.the teddy bear is really fun and it could be a great machine because 9 out of ten kids love teddy bears.

3) 1)the problem is to find a new candy machine that will be able to provide consumers with four different shapes of candy and also a machine that will be long and lasting.plus most of all will bring people to the company.in my poinbt of view the biggest problem was making a candy machine overall because i have never make one.2)well we come up with many ideas in the design such making it be plug in to the wall or making it move or even making it talk.but we ended up being realistic with a candy machine that willl last and wont be running out of energy and be braking down all the time.so we come out with the teddy bear machine because it doesnt need to be connected to anything and it will run in quaters and also it will last a while and it will bring people.the other idea we come up with was the square candy machine it starts big from the bottom and it gets smaller this machine is practicle too and it wont need enerygy or batteries every other day.
12} well we communicate our results by the brochure and also by the final design of the teddy bear.

4)1}this is the first candy machine that we design and it is very different from the other ones because has it keeps going out it increases in size and it could be very practicle for a candy store because iss different and it is out  og the ordinary.

2}this is the second machine and has it keeps going up it gets smaller and smaller and in each section their is a shape of the different candys shapes we have come out with this candy machine could be really easy to use because you can push the shape of candy you want and it will realise it.plus it will last a long time because the base is ticker.

3}this is the third candy machine we come up with. i honestly could love a candy machine that is shape like a teddy bear and you dont really see a candy machine like this in any store. this machine could bring a lot of customers and by pressing on the shape thats how the shape of the candy will come out to be.

5) this metrix was out of 30 and the teddy bear got the highest point and also the square..and the upside downt one got the lowest that was below 18. we decided to choose the teddy bear because we think it could be a great atracction fot the company.

What was the nature of the problem the ship experienced?the ship experince problems since they start losing power and the bathrooms stop working and people had to wait hours to get their food making things very difficult for them they also face the problem that the ship had a fire making them come to a stop and they had to get the coast guard to take care of the passagers and feat them. the boat needed repairs fast. the fire happend in the engine room.

What repairs were required? they had to fix the engine room and while they had to fix this they discover that their were more problems and the hard part about fixing this problems was that the parts that they need it were not available this made them cancel some of their trips and they had to take the ship to san francisco to finish fixing the boat. the ship will get a new diesel generator and two alternators.

What impact did the unnexpected arrival of the cruise ship have on the local economy? this was great it created more jobs and it also become a tourist attraction bring more people to the port.but it was not that great for the company of the carnival splendor because they lost a lot of money and they had to pay back the people(replace their ticket) and they also had to make adds in magazines and online to try to make their ships look great again because after the insident they lost popularity because the people made their ship sound bad.
